If you would like to advertise your guesthouse with us, write to us at [email protected].

We stay in guesthouses we know personally, in the Rhodope villages of Orehovo, Vrata, Mogilitsa, Mugla and Yagodina. There we feel the Bulgarian spirit and the genuine hospitality of the hosts, and we are glad to recommend them to you.

Telesfor Guesthouse

The village of Orehovo sits in the upper part of the Dolen Rupchos basin, at the foot of Persenk peak. Our favourite place to stay here is the Telesfor guesthouse, run by hosts Zlatka and Emo, who are the reason we love this place.

Built in 2015, the house holds a three-star rating. It has four twin rooms with separate beds and two double rooms with bedrooms and terraces, each with its own bathroom, television and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the cosy dining room with a fireplace seats 18. A conference room for 24 is well suited to team building, training and meetings.

Kamenovi guesthouse by the Agushevi Konatsi, village of Mogilitsa
The Rhodopes · village of Mogilitsa

Kamenovi Guesthouse

The village of Mogilitsa lies at 920 to 950 metres above sea level, 25 km south-west of Smolyan, on the left bank of the Arda river. Crystal-clear air, an abundance of caves and breathtaking views await you here. Our favourite place to stay is the Kamenovi guesthouse, right next to the Agushevi Konatsi mansion, in the centre of the village.

The house has three floors that can be rented separately, with a shared kitchen, bathroom and fridge on each floor. There is a tavern with a fireplace, local heating, a covered porch, a barbecue with an oven, a playground and a large yard. Here you can try Rhodope dishes: home-made banitsa, mekitsi and marudnik for breakfast, patatnik, parenik and Rhodope beans with porcini for dinner.

Mugla family hotel, village of Mugla
The Rhodopes · village of Mugla

Mugla Family Hotel

The village of Mugla lies along the upper course of the picturesque Muglenska river, with its many waterfalls and rapids. The area is home to one of the largest populations of wild goats in the Rhodopes, as well as the Kazanite reserve, declared in 1968 to protect the mixed forests of fir, black pine, beech and spruce.

The Mugla family hotel offers comfort and calm: four triple rooms, two double rooms and one quad room, all with their own bathroom and digital television. The hotel has a 40-seat restaurant where you can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace with a cup of Mursalski tea and the renowned Rhodope specialities.

Snezhana Guesthouse

The Rhodopes hold some of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Bulgaria. Lush meadows in incredible shades of green alternate with dark conifer forests, steep crags and scenic canyons. Without doubt one of our favourite places to stay is the Snezhana guesthouse in the village of Yagodina, close to the village centre. It is calm and quiet, and the hosts, welcoming, kind and always smiling, lead us into a true Rhodope adventure.

The house offers five rooms in a traditional setting, cosy and calm: three rooms with a double bed and a single bed, a room with two single beds and a room with four single beds. Each room has a television, wireless internet and furnishings, and there is a bathroom on every floor. The hosts offer breakfast, lunch and dinner on request, a tavern, a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook for yourselves, a folklore evening, organised hikes along eco-trails, organised visits to the caves, off-road tourism, cycling, hunting and fishing, as well as extreme crossings with a mountain guide through the unlit parts of the Yagodinska, Haramiyska and other caves in the area.
