Every spring the slopes of the Konyavska Mountain turn pink. Here, in the protected Yankovets area at the foot of Kolosh peak, the wild peony blooms, also called the samodiva peony. It is a rare and protected plant, to be looked at and photographed but not picked.

We climb Kolosh peak, the highest point in this part of the mountain at 1,314 metres, from where wide views open out. We set off from the village of Izvor, past Radomir, and walk among the blooming meadows.

The flowering window is short, usually towards the end of May. So we watch the season and announce the date in good time. Write to us to be among the first.
