Itinerary
Days 1–2: flight via Doha or Istanbul to Beijing, transfer to the hotel and a Peking duck dinner.
Days 3–4: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, a tea ceremony, the Temple of Heaven and free time on Wangfujing Street. Next day, the Great Wall with a cable car ascent, the Ming dynasty Dingling tomb, a photo stop at the Bird's Nest stadium and the Summer Palace.
Day 5: the Yonghe Lama Temple, a rickshaw ride through the hutongs and the high-speed train to Xi'an.
Days 6–7: the Terracotta Army, with an optional evening visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (USD 10 entrance, paid locally). Then the city walls, the Muslim quarter and the Great Mosque, and a flight to Shanghai.
Days 8–9: the Bund, Yu Garden, the Jade Buddha Temple, a silk factory and a climb up the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with an optional Huangpu River cruise (€48). A full day in Suzhou follows, with Pingjiang Street and rides by tricycle and boat along the canals.
Day 10: transfer to the airport for the late flight via Doha or Istanbul, landing in Sofia the following day.
Included in the Price
- Flights from Sofia to Beijing and from Shanghai back via Doha or Istanbul, with airport taxes, 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand luggage.
- 3 nights in Beijing (Beijing Dongfang 4-star), 2 in Xi'an (Holiday Inn Express Ancien West 4-star) and 3 in Shanghai (Paradise Hotel Shanghai 4-star), or similar hotels, with breakfast.
- Second-class high-speed train Beijing–Xi'an without luggage check-in, the Xi'an–Shanghai flight, all transfers and a Peking duck dinner.
- City tours of Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai with the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army and the TV tower, the Suzhou excursion, an English-speaking local guide with Bulgarian interpretation by the tour leader, and medical insurance with €10,000 cover.
Compulsory Extra Charges
- Fuel and emissions charge: the amount is set 21 days before the flight.
- Local service fee with tips for drivers and guides: €60.
Optional Excursions and Other Costs
- Huangpu River cruise in Shanghai: €48, with at least 10 participants.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda: USD 10 entrance fee, paid locally.
- Additional refund cover if travel is ruled out on health grounds: €35.
Travellers need a Chinese visa obtained in advance from a consulate, and a passport valid for at least 6 months after the return date.
