The town is the birthplace of several notable Bulgarians and holds a special place in the history of the April Uprising of 1876. One of the first signals for the uprising was given here.

Architecture That Tells Stories
One of Koprivshtitsa's most striking features is its preserved National Revival architecture. We will walk among colourful houses with wooden verandas, beautiful courtyards, stone streets and details that take us back to the 19th century.
Many of the old houses are now museums, preserving personal stories, objects, traditional dress and memories from the Bulgarian National Revival. Here, architecture is more than a backdrop. It is part of the history itself.
