⛰️ MUSALA PEAK, the highest peak in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula! ❤️

And so… the time has come to climb the highest summit of the Balkans once again! 🏔️

⛰️ Programme:

We meet all travellers and our guides at 08:30 in the Borovets resort, at the gondola lift.

🚠 We ride the lift for about 20 to 30 minutes and from the top station set off towards Musala Peak.

On the way we pass the Musala hut, situated on the northern shore of the seventh Musala lake, at 2380 m above sea level. 🏞️ The hut is warm and cosy, and from here onwards ever more impressive views begin to open up.

Do you know where the name Musala comes from? 🤔

There are several hypotheses. According to one, it derives from the Arabic "musalla", a place close to God, or a peak for prayer. Another theory links the name to the word "musalat", meaning ruling or dominant. In any case, the name became established during Ottoman rule, and the peak's earlier name is not known.

🏔️ After reaching the summit we have a photo stop, a rest and lunch with an incredible panorama of Rila.

Then we head back to Borovets, full of emotions, photos and memories… 💚

And on the way, who knows, perhaps we will already be planning the next adventure! 😉
