⛰️ Day 1

All travellers meet the guides at 11:00 am in Smilyan village. We will take a break and have lunch here. We continue a little further by car to Chereshovo village, stopping near the remains of the former summer residence of Agush Aga and his sons. You will discover why he chose this particular place for some of his residences. From there, we follow the panoramic ridge to neighbouring Poprelka, where the beautiful Rufinka once lived, later celebrated in the song “Rufinka Bolna Legnala”. We will also see the columbine planted by Rufinka’s mother, still flowering each spring. We return to the cars along the ancient road that once connected Poprelka and Chereshovo. We then check into the guesthouse in Mogilitsa village.

⛰️ Day 2

A day of viewing platforms: the Rhodopes from above.
An early Rhodope morning… mist rises slowly over the surrounding ridges… the aroma of mekitsi drifts from somewhere nearby…
Today is devoted to views from above. We will step onto “The Peak”, climb Lisa Gora and walk along the edge of the Sanctuary. On the way, we will also visit Tipitseto Cave. We leave Mogilitsa on the walking route to “The Peak” viewing platform. The path climbs through forests and lush meadows to the platform, which ends with a glass floor and stands 350 m above the river.
Although we are at “The Peak” viewing platform, the climb is not over. Around another 100 m of ascent takes us to Lisa Gora and the newest attraction in the upper Arda valley. From there, we will enjoy a 360-degree panorama above the trees.
Then comes the Sanctuary, with lunch at the shelter…
We return to Mogilitsa for the night.

⛰️ Day 3

Breakfast. We have heard so much about it that we cannot miss it this time: Kom Peak, but the one in the Rhodopes.
There are many legends and stories about the Rhodope Kom. The majestic mountain ridge attracts archaeologists, treasure hunters digging for riches, researchers and lovers of wonders. Everyone is convinced the summit is sacred, and not only because an ancient sanctuary was found there. Some stories concern ancient Greek treasure buried here, others tell of hidden bandits’ loot, and others of a pot of gold coins belonging to haiduks. Some archaeologists believe this is the site of the sanctuary of Dionysus, while villagers tell of an underground church that also sheltered Bulgarians during the conversion to Islam. Today, a small chapel restored by local people stands on the summit.

We return to Mogilitsa for the night.

⛰️ Day 4

Breakfast.
Today we head towards the Kiselchovo waterfalls. Hidden from curious tourists, they lie near the village of the same name. Here the Lyutinska River has formed a succession of small and larger cascades upstream, surrounded on both sides by wild nature and steep slopes. Now it gets interesting… To enjoy this beauty, we must cross the river several times, walk against its current and pass through a few deeper pools. For this, we have prepared a pair of waist-high waders for each of you, so we can step confidently into the water. We assure you this adventure is not to be missed. We expect to finish around midday so that everyone can return home in good time.
On the way, we start planning our next adventure.
