Winter Adventure to Zekiritsa Peak

Would you like to try something new this winter? Why not swap the usual hiking boots for snowshoes and discover the magic of the winter mountains? 🎿❄️

This time the Shery Tour team invites you to beautiful Lakatishka Rila, where we will head towards Zekiritsa Peak, a wonderful place for your first steps on snowshoes and an encounter with Rila’s magnificent winter landscapes!

Our route follows quiet forest paths and snowy meadows. We will climb gradually through the silent winter woods as increasingly impressive views of the higher mountains unfold before us.

And at the summit? We will enjoy a well-earned rest, hot tea, a tasty lunch and time for photographs and contemplation of the winter scenery! 📸☕

🥾 Adventure Programme

We meet the mountain guides at 9:00 am at Pionerska Hut.

From here we follow the path towards Lovna Hut and the Brezanski Livadi area. A gentle forest road is followed by a gradual climb through the beautiful woods of Lakatishka Rila.
We will gain height gradually, with ever more impressive views. Our destination is Zekiritsa Peak!
There we will take time to rest, have lunch and hot tea, and take plenty of beautiful photographs. The return journey brings some variety: part of it follows a different route.

• Distance: around 11 km
• Elevation: +150 m / -150 m
• Duration: around 5 hours
• Meeting time: 9:00 am
• Location: the lift car park at Pionerska Hut

🎒 What Should We Bring?

The winter mountains are beautiful, but require good preparation!
Required equipment includes:
🥾 Winter or three-season hiking boots
🎒 A hiking rucksack
❄️ Snowshoes, depending on snow conditions (you can hire them from us)
🚶 Trekking poles with large snow baskets
🧥 A windproof and waterproof jacket, down jacket and fleece
🧣 A neck gaiter or face mask
🧦 Thermal base layers, top and bottom
🧤 Two pairs of gloves
🧢 A winter hat and a summer hat
🥾 Hiking gaiters
🔦 A head torch
🌧️ A raincoat
🕶️ Sunglasses
☀️ Sunscreen and lip balm
🫖 At least 1.5 litres of water and a hot drink in a flask.

Unsure exactly what you need? Please contact us! We will help you prepare and choose suitable equipment.
(If snowshoes are needed for the hike, we will help you hire them.)
